Safety tips

 

When using kayaks and SUPs it is important to follow some basic safety information:

 

Check the Bureau of Meteorology website for the latest forecast, weather updates and tide information:
www.bom.gov.au

 

Urunga Kayak and Recreation Hire equipment is not to be used in bad weather conditions.
 

Children under the age of 15 must be supervised at all times. An adult (over 18 years of age) needs to read and sign our waiver on behalf of the minor.

 

An approved life jacket must be worn at all times – life jackets (PFD50) are provided with hire of kayaks and SUPs.

 

Urunga Kayak and Recreation Hire kayaks & SUPs are for use only in the rivers and not off shore. Basic waterway rules must be adhered to.

 

It is advisable to familiarise yourself with the area that you will be kayaking/paddleboarding in. Maps provided by Urunga Kayak and Recreation Hire for the area of intended kayak/SUP use.

 

Carry sufficient drinking water, food (if applicable) and sun protection.

 

A dry bag is supplied to carry your mobile phone for communication if required or just to take some memorable photos.

 

Never consume any alcohol or drugs whilst using a kayak or paddleboard.

 

Safety should always be your first priority. Always use your common sense at all times and follow safety regulations.
